We have been using them for years now and they have tried many times to extort us into upgrading. They will shut your site down as soon as it finally begins to receive a decent amount of traffic and don't ever expect to run a Wordpress site on there as any more than a few plugins and they will shut it down for that claiming it is using too many resources.

If you get randomly brute forced by someone, they will shut down your website and blame it on you (ignoring the fact that someone just tried to attack the website). Instead, they keep the website offline for many many many hours at a time claiming that took too many resources and you have to fix the glitch, even though there is no fix to make. Every single time they will try to tell you that your site needs a dedicated server. I am talking, even Joe Shmoe with a personal blog or a basic e-commerce site that barely competes against anyone else.

They try their best to up-sale you as hard as they can for everything you don't need. On top of it all, good luck trying to get a resolution. You talk to their admins and they take forever to get back to you. They could care less that your website is offline.

Someone should take their website offline for a day at a time and let them see how that feels, and how that affects them monetarily. You can complain to anyone higher up because their contact options just try to get you to their live chat which leads you to someone who says they can't help you, and you have to talk to the admins via email. There is no "Click here to file a complaint".

If you want to lose your hair and end up in the hospital for high blood pressure and a total loss in profit, sure, go ahead and sign up for Hostgator. They will be happy to make it happen for you.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $750.

Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered.

I didn't like: Chat support, Blame you when you are attacked, Holds your site hostage, Charges you more than competition, Constant attempts to upsale you on things you dont need.
